Private Client Fee Earner
About the Role
My client is seeking a qualified and experienced Private Client Fee Earner to join our team. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in private client work who can confidently manage their own caseload and provide a high standard of service to clients.
The successful candidate will ideally be a Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer/Chartered Legal Executive with experience across a range of private client matters, including Wills, Probate, Estate Administration, Trusts, and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of private client matters from initial instruction through to completion.
- Advise clients on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate, and Estate Administration.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including Wills and estate planning documentation.
- Deal with applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
- Administer estates, including obtaining valuations, settling liabilities, and distributing assets to beneficiaries.
- Provide appropriate advice regarding Inheritance Tax and estate planning.
- Establish and administer trusts and advise clients on relevant trust matters.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive client files in accordance with regulatory and firm requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other professional advisers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide a professional and approachable service.
- Manage workloads effectively and meet relevant deadlines and financial targets.
- Comply with SRA/CILEX requirements, AML regulations, firm procedures, and other relevant legal and regulatory obligations.
- Contribute to the continued development and reputation of the Private Client department.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Previous experience in a Private Client department.
- Strong knowledge of Wills, Probate, and Estate Administration.
- Experience managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A client-focused and professional approach.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
- Good IT and case-management skills.
- A commercially aware approach to managing files and client relationships.

Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Trusts and trust administration
- Inheritance Tax and estate planning
- Court of Protection matters
- Complex estates
- High-net-worth clients
- Contentious probate
