Description
As a Private Client Tax Manager, you will manage a portfolio of private client tax advisory and compliance work, delivering tailored tax planning solutions and exceptional client service. Working closely with Tax Directors and Partners, you will lead advisory projects, oversee compliance obligations, identify business development opportunities, and support the development of junior team members. You will collaborate across the wider firm to provide integrated client solutions while ensuring technical excellence and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of private client tax advisory and compliance work, delivering tailored advice across areas including succession planning, inheritance tax, residency, and shareholder exit strategies, while preparing technical reports for review by Tax Directors and Partners.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser, responding to client queries, identifying advisory opportunities, and ensuring a consistently high standard of service.
- Oversee the commercial management of your portfolio, including work-in-progress (WIP), fee negotiations, billing, and identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships.
- Support and develop junior team members through coaching, training, and technical guidance, fostering their professional growth and maintaining high-quality delivery across the team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Tax and other service lines, including Audit, Corporate Finance, and Financial Planning, to deliver integrated client solutions and maximise cross-referral opportunities.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and industry developments, contributing to the firm's practice development through technical articles, presentations, networking, process improvements, and ongoing professional development.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- ACA or CTA qualified or qualified by experience;
- Previous Personal Tax or Mixed Tax experience in a similar role is essential;
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to carry out research into complex areas of tax legislation is required;
- Some experience across a breadth of taxes is ideal but not essential;
- Able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues;
- Excellent time management skills in order to meet a variety of strict deadlines;
- Line management experience and willingness to mentor more junior team members.
