Title: Private Client Manager (North)

Location: Chesterfield/Crewe

Salary: Negotiable + benefits

Job Purpose

We are currently looking for a Private Client Manager to be based out of our welcoming and professional Chesterfield or Crewe office.

This position will lead, develop and grow the Private Client division, overseeing teams based in Crewe and Chesterfield. The role is responsible for delivering sustainable financial performance, exceptional client outcomes, operational excellence and colleague development across both locations.

The Private Client Manager will create a high-performance culture, ensuring the teams consistently achieve retention, growth and service objectives while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach and develop two Private Client teams across Crewe and Chesterfield.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and development discussions.
  • Support succession planning and talent development across both locations.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and retention of team members.
  • Address performance issues promptly and effectively, working with TR where necessary.
  • Act as a role model for company values, behaviours and customer-centricity.

Financial & Commercial Performance

  • Support the acquisition and retention of HNW clients.
  • Monitor team and individual KPIs and implement performance improvement plans where required.
  • Drive new business development through referrals, introducers and strategic relationships.
  • Identify growth opportunities across existing client portfolios and target markets.

Client Service & Technical Oversight

  • Ensure clients receive exceptional service and advice at every stage of the customer lifecycle.
  • Support team members with complex insurance placements, claims and client issues.
  • Ensure robust pre-renewal planning and strategic account management across the region.
  • Monitor service standards and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Operational Management

  • Oversee quality assurance activities, audits and file checking processes.
  • Ensure effective debt management and credit control performance.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with FCA rules, Consumer Duty requirements and company procedures.
  • Maintain oversight of quality standards, risk management and file audit results.
  • Ensure all colleagues complete required training, competency and CPD requirements.
  • Promote a culture of regulatory awareness and positive customer outcomes.
  • Escalate risks, complaints and conduct concerns appropriately.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Insurance leadership experience within Private Client, HNW or Personal Lines insurance.
  • Proven experience managing and developing successful teams.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability.
  • Good knowledge of the private client insurance market.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulation and customer outcome requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience managing multi-site teams.
  • Experience leading operational and business change initiatives.
