AJ Chambers are delighted to be working with an award-winning law firm who are looking to recruit a Partner (Solicitor) to join its established and highly regarded Private Client team.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will join a busy and growing Private Client practice, advising a diverse client base including high-net-worth individuals, families, individuals and charities.

The team advises across a broad range of private client matters, including estate planning, trusts, estate administration, cross-border estates, contentious probate, charity set-up and registration, and Court of Protection work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied and complex Private Client caseload, providing high-quality legal advice and support to clients.
  • Advise on estate planning, wills, trusts, probate and estate administration.
  • Advise clients on inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning.
  • Draft wills, trust deeds and other legal documentation to a high standard.
  • Manage and develop your own client portfolio and generate new business through proactive business development and networking.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and professional intermediaries.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-refer work to other departments across the firm.
  • Work closely with personal representatives, trustees and other professional advisers.
  • Assist the Department Head with the continued growth and development of the Private Client practice.
  • Meet individual billing and financial targets and contribute to the overall performance of the department.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team and undertake appropriate supervisory and managerial responsibilities.
  • Maintain excellent file management, time recording and financial controls.
  • Ensure all matters comply with relevant legal, regulatory, AML and firm-wide requirements.
  • Keep up to date with developments in legislation, regulation and case law relevant to Private Client work.
  • Contribute to the firm's marketing and profile-raising activities.

  • Previous experience at Partner level or equivalent
  • STEP qualification and full TEP membership
  • A strong technical Private Client background with excellent drafting skills
  • An established client following and demonstrable ability to generate and retain business
  • Experience managing and developing junior lawyers and support staff
  • Strong client care and relationship-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commercially minded approach with an understanding of billing, financial management and cash flow
  • A collaborative and collegiate approach to working within a team
  • Strong IT and case management system skills
