The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) to join our highly regarded Private Client team in Chelmsford as an Associate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative environment. You'll manage a varied and high-quality caseload, work closely with Partners and senior colleagues, develop lasting client relationships, and play an integral role in the continued growth and success of the team.
Our Private Client team is recognised for delivering outstanding client care and trusted advice across a broad range of personal wealth and succession matters. As an Associate, you'll have the opportunity to deepen your expertise, contribute to business development initiatives and support the development of junior team members.

What You'll Be Doing
As part of our established Private Client practice, you'll:
- Manage a broad and complex portfolio of private client matters with a high degree of autonomy.
- Advise clients on:
- Wills and succession planning
- Trust creation and administration
- Probate and estate administration
- Inheritance Tax and estate planning
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Court of Protection matters
- Provide practical, commercially aware and client-focused advice tailored to individual circumstances.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, referrers and professional contacts.
- Mentor and support junior team members, helping to foster a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Contribute to networking, marketing and business development activities that enhance the profile of the team and firm.
- Embrace technology and innovative working practices to deliver efficient and effective client service.
- Stay current with legal developments and share knowledge and best practice across the wider team.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a genuine commitment to client care and relationship building.
You'll have:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) status.
- Significant experience handling a broad range of private client matters.
- Strong technical knowledge of wills, trusts, probate, estate administration and tax planning.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, commercial mindset with an interest in business development and networking.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional service and achieving the best outcomes for clients.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous.
