Private Client Solicitor / Chartered Legal Executive – Bedford

Premier Solicitors is looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (3+ years’ PQE) to join our busy, growing and award-winning Private Client Department.

Based in our Bedford office, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Client lawyer looking to build their career locally, whilst benefiting from the resources, client base and reputation of an established national firm.

You will join a large and experienced Private Client team, with the opportunity to manage your own caseload, develop your technical expertise, work on a varied range of matters and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the department.

The role

The role will have a strong focus on probate and estate administration, with a varied caseload ranging from straightforward non-taxable estates to more complex taxable estates and associated trust work.

Your responsibilities will include managing your own caseload, including:

  • Non-taxable estates
  • Taxable estates
  • Estate administration and associated matters
  • Assents and property-related estate work
  • Registration and administration of life interest trusts
  • Trust establishment and dissolution
  • Deeds of variation
  • Other ancillary Private Client work

You will have the support of an established team whilst retaining responsibility and autonomy for your own clients and files.

As the department continues to expand, there will also be opportunities to assist the Directors in developing the team, processes and client offering, depending on your experience and aspirations.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive who:

  • Is qualified as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, with at least 3 years' PQE in Private Client work
  • Has proven experience of managing their own caseload
  • Has strong probate and estate administration experience
  • Provides professional, commercially aware and empathetic client care
  • Has excellent drafting, writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong technical legal ability and attention to detail
  • Can manage competing deadlines and work effectively to agreed targets
  • Has good IT skills and is comfortable working with case management systems
  • Is committed to developing their career and contributing to the growth of a successful department
  • STEP qualification or progress towards STEP qualification would be advantageous
