Private Client Solicitor (Senior Associate / Partner) - Newark, Nottinghamshire
We have an exciting opportunity for a confident, proactive, and well-organised individual to join our team at Associate or Partner level. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience across a broad range of private client matters, including the preparation of Wills (including those incorporating trusts for more complex family arrangements), inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, and the preparation and registration of EPAs and LPAs.
The role will also involve Court of Protection work and the administration of both taxable and non-taxable estates, requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
In addition, we are seeking an experienced individual who is keen to play a key role in the growth and development of the Private Client practice. The successful candidate will be happy to help build and mentor a team, contribute to the strategic direction of the department, and take an active role in business development, including developing existing client relationships, networking, and generating new work. A following is welcome but not essential; a commercial mindset and genuine enthusiasm for growing the practice are more important.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
