A leading professional services firm is seeking a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join its growing Leeds office. The firm advises a diverse portfolio of private clients, entrepreneurs, business owners, landed estates, trusts, and internationally mobile individuals, providing specialist tax advisory services across a broad range of technical areas.

Your New Role

As a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager, you will work closely with senior tax specialists to deliver high-quality advisory services to a varied client portfolio. You will be involved in a broad range of tax planning projects while supporting business development initiatives and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of tax advisory services to a portfolio of private clients.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients where appropriate.
  • Assisting with complex tax planning projects, including inheritance tax planning, succession planning, capital gains tax planning, trust structuring, residence and international tax matters, Transaction-related tax advice.
  • Managing advisory assignments and monitoring work in progress.
  • Assisting with proposals for new work and fee discussions.
  • Participating in client meetings and helping present technical advice in a clear and commercial manner.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships and win new business.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across tax and wider service lines to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing junior members of the tax team.
  • Attending networking and business development events to build professional relationships and raise the firm's profile.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A professional tax qualification such as CTA, ATT, STEP, ACA/CA, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience within a private client tax advisory environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across private client tax planning matters.
  • The ability to undertake independent technical research and interpret legislation.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience using Tolley's tax research products would be advantageous.
