Tax Advisory Assistant Manager

We are looking for a dedicated Tax Advisory Assistant Manager to join our Private Client Tax Team in our London office.
The successful candidate will be part of a growing team in London focused on Private Client Tax Disputes with particular emphasis on delivering tax advisory reports in matrimonial and professional negligence cases, working directly into the Associate Director and Partner. The role will also provide access to working on a wider range of private client tax advisory work within the London team including supporting our clients on transactions and succession planning.
We are open to speaking with existing Assistant Managers looking for an interesting new role and Senior Associates ready for the step up to Assistant Manager level for this position.
About the team
Our Private Client Tax team provides bespoke advisory and compliance services to ultra and high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, family offices, business owners and senior executives. Whether clients require assistance with UK tax compliance, international structuring, succession planning or complex cross-border matters, we combine deep technical expertise with the strength of our global network to deliver integrated solutions across multiple jurisdictions. Our team advises on a broad range of personal and family wealth matters, including:
- Personal tax compliance and international tax advisory
- Residence, domicile and cross-border mobility planning
- Business succession and exit planning
- Estate, inheritance tax and succession planning
- Trust structuring and family wealth governance
- Real estate ownership and investment structuring
- Philanthropy and charitable giving strategies
- Tax aspects of matrimonial and family wealth matters

Private Client Tax Disputes
We work with leading private client and family law firms as a collaborative partner to support high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients through moments of complexity, transition and dispute. Our multidisciplinary team brings together tax advisers, financial planners, contentious and non-contentious valuation experts and forensic accountants, and insolvency practitioners to provide support across contentious tax issues, trust and estate disputes, matrimonial proceedings and financial remedy work, through to independent valuations, Single Joint Expert instructions, shadow expert support, personal insolvency and specialist advisory input.
Through our work with individuals, families, trustees, entrepreneurs and business owners, we understand the value of trusted professional relationships in supporting clients over the long term.
Our Private Client Tax Disputes team provides independent tax expert and advisory support to family lawyers in complex financial remedy proceedings.
We regularly act as Single Joint Experts or Party Appointed Experts, delivering clear, robust and court-compliant opinions on tax matters, often involving international assets and cross-disciplinary issues. We also support legal teams as Shadow Experts, helping to scrutinise opposing expert tax evidence, identify key issues and strengthen case strategy. Combining technical excellence with a pragmatic and responsive approach, we help solicitors and their clients navigate the tax aspects of complex financial disputes with confidence.
About the role
Support the Partner and Associate Director to deliver high quality client service in Private Client Tax Disputes cases such as divorce or professional negligence litigation.

- Learn the process for managing and delivering such engagements, with a view to managing some cases directly in future.
- Prepare proposals and fee budgets for new enquiries.
- Prepare tax advisory and expert witness reports in line with court or other client deadlines.
- Build relationships with key law firm intermediary contacts to develop an external network.
- Build relationships within Tax and across service lines with Forvis Mazars colleagues in London, nationally and internationally to develop an internal network.
- Prepare private client tax reports for high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals on a wide variety of subject matters including residence, IHT planning, family succession planning and business structuring.
- Review tax returns and other compliance matters for high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals.
What we are looking for
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in personal tax compliance or advisory roles.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA / ACCA / ATT / STEP and CTA, or equivalent.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation.
- Strong written and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain both internal team and external client relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements, follow risk and review procedures and meet deadlines.
