Associate Director - Private Client Tax

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Tax professional to join a highly regarded and growing advisory practice in the Midlands. The role offers significant exposure to complex advisory projects, strategic tax planning, and transaction-related work across a broad range of private client matters.

The Role

The Associate Director will be responsible for managing key client relationships, delivering complex tax advice, supporting team development, and helping identify new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of private clients, identifying opportunities to broaden existing engagements.
  • Deliver high-quality tax advisory services to entrepreneurs, shareholders, business owners, and wealthy individuals.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external networks to generate new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business to provide integrated advice on transactions, succession planning, and wealth structuring matters.
  • Review clients' tax affairs and provide practical, commercially focused solutions to complex tax challenges.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery and implementation of advisory projects.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their technical and professional development.
  • Take responsibility for engagement profitability, including budgeting, work-in-progress management, and billing.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and help bring innovative client solutions to market.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA, CA, CTA, or an equivalent professional qualification.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience within Private Client Tax, gained in a professional services or advisory environment.
  • Strong technical expertise across a broad range of private client matters, including shareholder planning, transaction-related advice, succession planning, and key tax reliefs.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to engage effectively with business owners, shareholders, senior executives, and family offices.
  • A proven track record of developing long-term client relationships and identifying advisory opportunities.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing junior colleagues.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify and capitalise on new business opportunities.
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to contribute to the success of both clients and colleagues.
