Lusona is working with a highly regarded specialist practice in Glasgow to appoint a Private Client Tax Lead at Senior Manager or Director level.
This is a senior role combining Private Client Tax compliance and advisory, with responsibility for an established portfolio of approximately 400 private clients. The firm is flexible about the precise balance of the position. For someone with particularly strong advisory expertise, the role could be weighted significantly towards advisory work. Alternatively, it could suit an experienced Private Client specialist whose strengths lie in managing a substantial portfolio, reviewing compliance and developing long-term client relationships.
The role
- Take senior responsibility for an established Private Client Tax portfolio.
- Oversee and review personal tax compliance.
- Provide proactive advice to individuals, business owners and other high-value clients.
- Lead and support more complex Private Client Tax advisory assignments.
- Advise on areas including residence and international tax, IHT, succession and wider personal tax planning.
- Provide personal tax advice connected to corporate transactions, including demergers and MBOs.
- Manage key client relationships, including work for a professional services firm.
- Work closely with the Partners and wider tax team.
- Support and develop more junior colleagues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
