Personal Tax Senior - Central London
£45,000 – £55,000 | 2-3 days office | ATT/CTA study support provided
Most personal tax portfolios look the same from the inside - a few hundred returns, the same handful of income sources, the same January.
This one doesn't.
My client is a leading private client tax specialist firm, with an established HNW client base, and growing at astronomical speed. They're focused on advising high profile and HNW clients with complex affairs, and the client list runs from prime property investors, to international families, professional sports personalities, to high profile musicians. Most of whom have international elements.
What you'd actually be doing
You'd own a portfolio, along with being given study support and a helping hand from managers and partners when high profile client affairs get complicated (and they usually do).
The compliance work is the backbone, returns, computations, payment advice, and being the person clients ring when they have a tax query, so good interpersonal skills are key. Around that sits the interesting part, UK and international aspects, plenty of one-off technical projects, and planning work you'll be pulled into by partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Who this is right for
Someone who is looking to be a future heavy weight in the private client tax space. You'll have around three or four years in private client/personal tax, and be working towards the ATT or CTA, or you'll have the relevant experience and looking to begin a training contract. You need to be comfortable building a client relationship on your own and have a desire to get stuck in and learn as much as possible.
If learning and development are key to you, and you'd rather learn from partners who sit on the same floor, this fits. This is also a highly sociable firm, for those that like that kind of thing, with regular get-togethers, away days, and team outings.

Who it isn't right for
It isn't a pure advisory seat, compliance is the core, and the advisory work grows out of it rather than replacing it. It's a fast-paced firm with deadlines and clients who expect a fast response. And it's a hybrid working culture.
