Private Client Tax Senior Manager

We are working with a growing professional services firm to recruit an experienced Private Client Tax Senior Manager into its established tax team.

This is a senior client-facing role for a CTA-qualified private client tax professional with strong experience across personal tax compliance, tax advisory, and planning. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of high-value clients, lead technically complex assignments, and play an active role in developing both the team and the wider private client tax offering.

The Role

You will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of private clients, providing high-quality personal tax compliance and advisory services while acting as a trusted adviser to clients and their wider professional teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading complex private client tax compliance and advisory assignments from planning through to completion.
  • Providing advice on personal tax planning, tax efficiency, and wider private client matters.
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, developing long-term relationships, and understanding their personal, family, and financial objectives.
  • Advising clients proactively on relevant changes to UK tax legislation and personal tax requirements.
  • Reviewing technically complex work and ensuring a consistently high standard of delivery.
  • Working closely with colleagues and other specialist teams where clients require wider tax or professional advice.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior members of the private client tax team.
  • Delegating work effectively and providing constructive feedback to support the development of team members.
  • Managing workflow, resources, and deadlines across a portfolio of client assignments.
  • Taking responsibility for quality control, risk management, and appropriate technical procedures.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and make effective use of technology within the private client tax function.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships and introduce additional services.
  • Supporting business development, networking, and new business generation initiatives.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the private client tax practice.

The Client Portfolio

The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and private clients, with a mixture of personal tax compliance and advisory work.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients and their wider professional advisers, developing a detailed understanding of their circumstances and providing practical, commercially focused tax advice.

The position would suit someone who enjoys combining technical private client tax work with relationship management, team leadership, and business development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Private Client Tax Managers
  • Senior Tax Managers
  • Private Client Tax Senior Managers
  • Personal Tax Senior Managers
  • Private Client Tax Directors / Assistant Directors looking for a new opportunity

You should have:

  • Significant experience within UK Private Client Tax / Personal Tax in an accountancy or professional services environment.
  • Strong experience across personal tax compliance and advisory work.
  • A strong technical understanding of UK personal tax legislation and tax planning.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of private clients and acting as a trusted adviser.
  • The ability to review and oversee technically complex personal tax work.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing junior tax professionals.
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in business development and networking.
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and other professional advisers.

CTA qualification is essential. STEP qualification or experience working towards STEP would be advantageous, but is not essential.
