Tax Senior opportunity in Hertfordshire
A growing tax team is looking for an experienced Tax Senior to join its private client practice. The role offers exposure to a broad range of individuals, families, trustees and entrepreneurial clients, with a balance of compliance work and developing advisory responsibilities.
This could suit someone who is CTA or ATT qualified, studying towards a professional qualification, or has relevant ACA or ACCA experience and is ready to progress within private client tax.
The role
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Prepare and review UK personal tax returns
- Assist with capital gains tax work involving property, investments and other disposals
- Support inheritance tax planning and estate-related assignments
- Prepare trust tax returns and contribute to trust advisory projects
- Assist with residence, domicile and other private client matters
- Manage a portfolio of clients with appropriate support
- Build relationships with clients and their wider professional advisers
- Work alongside senior colleagues on more complex tax assignments
- Review work completed by junior team members where appropriate
- Identify potential planning opportunities and areas for further support
- Keep informed of legislative developments and explain relevant changes clearly

About you
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in UK private client tax
- A strong background in personal tax compliance
- Some experience of CGT, IHT and trusts
- Exposure to high-net-worth individuals, family groups or complex affairs
- The ability to manage deadlines and take ownership of your work
- Good technical judgement and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A professional, commercially aware and client-focused approach
- CTA, ATT, ACA or ACCA qualification, or progress towards one
You do not need to have experience in every area listed. A solid private client tax background, combined with an interest in developing your advisory skills, would be valuable.

Location
The position is based in Hertfordshire, with hybrid working available. It may suit candidates living in or around St Albans, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford or nearby areas.
