Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Private Debt Junior Portfolio Manager role, based in London, UK, or Luxembourg. The Junior Portfolio Manager will support the evaluation of new private debt investment opportunities. Day-to-day tasks include assisting in the preparation of investment memos, monitoring existing portfolio positions, tracking covenants, and updating internal reports and dashboards.
The role involves collaborating with senior team members on deal execution, supporting documentation and transaction processes, and contributing to ongoing market and sector research. The successful candidate will also help maintain internal databases, contribute to risk assessments, and participate in regular portfolio review meetings.

On the finance and administration side, the role includes:

- Supporting loan administration, including drawdowns, schedules, and interest calculations
- Reconciling incoming interest and principal payments against loan agreements and bank statements
- Assisting with fund accounting, NAV preparation, and quarterly and annual reporting
- Liaising with the fund administrator, depositary, auditors, and AIFM on reporting and audit requests
- Coordinating KYC/AML onboarding and ongoing checks for borrowers and counterparties
- Maintaining accurate records, filing transaction documents, and managing collateral and security registers
- Supporting cash management, expense tracking, and payment processing
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial statements.
- Portfolio management skills, ideally including monitoring positions, tracking performance, and supporting risk management processes.
- Understanding of private debt instruments, capital structures, and market dynamics is a plus.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS or Lux GAAP), including accruals, reconciliations, and the basics of fund accounting.
- Experience with bookkeeping, loan servicing, or fund administration is beneficial.
- Familiarity with KYC/AML procedures and regulatory requirements for alternative investment funds is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field is preferred. CFA, FRM, ACCA, or ACA welcome.
- Experience (internships or entry-level roles) in asset management, private debt, banking, corporate finance, audit, or fund administration is beneficial.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities, with attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with accounting or loan management software is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple administrative deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings concisely to colleagues.
- High level of integrity, professional discretion, and interest in long-term investing in small businesses.
