As a Private Equity (PE) Senior Leader with AWS, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on AI, cloud migration, growth and optimization strategies of Private Equity (PE) firms and their portfolio companies. You will lead a team that identifies PE portfolio companies undertaking AI/agentic and cloud transformation journeys. Working closely with AWS sales teams, business development, and technical resources, you will shape strategic, technical and financial decisions with the firms and their portfolio companies. Cross-functional collaboration includes working closely with AWS corporate development, specialist sales, product management, partner, and marketing teams on strategic initiatives that tie in to the PE community. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and motivated leader to lead, coach, grow, and partner with technically skilled, customer-facing Business Development Managers and Solution Architects.

You will help develop the industry’s best AI and cloud solutions private equity team by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, executive engagement, presentation, and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present value-driven architectures of widely varying size and complexity. In collaboration with sales, you will enable business outcomes across a broad and diverse set of customers.

In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology, considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will help team members ramp-up on AWS as well as develop speaking, writing, presentation, and executive interaction skills. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with senior leadership and cross functional departments within AWS such as our services teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management.

The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to lead extended, complex engagements at the CxO/VP level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with technical leaders, software developers, architects, and data scientists. They should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges; to build and convey compelling value propositions, ROI, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. A deep sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must. Must enjoy developing technical and commercial talent to achieve great things. You will have a passion for educating, training, and enabling cloud computing experts for a diverse and challenging set of customers across all segments.

The candidate will have a strong understanding of large-scale computing solutions, business-IT transformations, or relevant consulting experience. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a Business Development Manager or similar role and managing a team of a tenured sales and technical professionals. You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions to both deep investor relationships and architecture discussions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as regional leader of the PE Business Development team in helping to drive overall AWS market and technical strategy.
  • Serve as a reliable escalation point for key PE firms with portfolio companies that have infrastructure needs and drive strategic engagement with those PE firms.
  • Execute the strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, partners, marketing, support, etc.).
  • Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Business Development Managers and Solutions Architects from internal and external sources
  • Build and coach the team on the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions so they can transfer deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using AWS
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS private equity BD and field sales community
  • Educate customers across all segments on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful AI deployment and in the cloud
  • Strong operational and budgeting skills; able to be an owner of the regional business

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
  • 10+ years of professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing high performance teams in the tech industry
