Job Title: Private Sales Account Manager
Location: London
Competitive Salary And Benefits
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead private oncology growth and turn scientific breakthroughs into real options for patients? In this national, field-based role, you will maximise uptake of AstraZeneca’s breast cancer portfolio across the UK private sector, connecting innovative medicines with the clinicians and pathways that shape care. You will focus where it matters most—private hospital groups, PMI networks and self-pay channels—so that eligible patients access the right treatment at the right time.
You will join a high-performing team at the forefront of value-led partnerships with private providers and payers, aligning data, education and pathways to deliver sustainable adoption. How will you build trusted relationships with leading oncologists and translate new evidence into practice to accelerate appropriate uptake? With around 80% of accountability centred on London and the South East, you will operate across key accounts nationwide, collaborating closely with cross-functional and alliance colleagues to deliver launch excellence and long-term growth.
Accountabilities
- Strategic Account Leadership: Own a focused panel of UK private accounts; build and execute cross-brand account plans aligned to indication priorities to deliver launch and sustained growth of breast cancer portfolio brands.
- Private Sector Growth: Drive uptake, market share and sales versus target by tailoring a differentiated promotional model to the specific needs of private stakeholders across hospital groups, PMI pathways and self-pay.
- HCP Engagement: Map decision makers and influencers across private providers; secure deep, trusted relationships with oncologists and MDTs to increase relevant share of voice and quality of engagement.
- Thought Leader Management: Identify, develop and mobilise KOLs to inform peer education and influence adoption across priority indications; maintain active KOL plans and measure impact on uptake.
- Scientific Exchange: Deliver high-quality, indication-specific discussions; confidently translate complex clinical data into private practice relevance to speed appropriate adoption in target patient groups.
- Pathway Optimisation: Shape and support implementation of private treatment pathways (e.g., ESR1 testing, adverse event management, sequencing) to enable earlier intervention and smarter treatment choices.
- Insight Generation: Capture, synthesise and share private market insights to refine strategy, inform operational plans and guide portfolio prioritisation.
- Alliance and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with alliance partners and internal teams to deliver coordinated portfolio selling and execution against combined goals.
- Compliance and Operational Excellence: Ensure full ABPI compliance and adherence to AstraZeneca SOPs; maintain CRM accuracy and complete required training.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
