Our ambition

Our ambition is for Harrods Private Shopping to be the ultimate luxury shopping and lifestyle destination. The role of the Private Shopper is to deliver exceptional service to our most loyal clients. As one of the key roles in our client facing Private Shopping team, you are critical to achieving this ambition.

Delivering world class service to Harrods’ most loyal clients and consistently exceeding their expectations is in our DNA. It goes without saying that our clients expect simplicity, ease, pace and most importantly personalised service, tailored to their needs, when they visit us. Everything you do will be seamless. That’s where the role of Private Shopper comes in.

About the Role

As a Private Shopper you will build deep authentic relationships with your portfolio of clients, anticipating their needs before they do. You’ll pair this with a global awareness of luxury trends and product developments and use your insight to make tailored recommendations. This will enable you to grow client spend in a genuine and value adding sales through service way – whilst building loyalty and advocacy for the Private Shopping service.

The Private shopper role is a key focus within our Private Shopping team where no day is the same. Below are some of the responsibilities:

  • Building deep, meaningful client relationships with your portfolio of end-user clients in order to deliver an intuitive service which will maximise sales
  • Engage pro-actively and in a planful way with your client portfolio, being influential with ideas and recommendations in a personalised way
  • Spotting opportunities to develop our service or offering and influencing internal stakeholders and brand partners accordingly
  • Preselect items for clients and present options. This may be during a physical appointment or virtually
  • Consistently reviewing your client portfolio to prioritise actions and spot opportunities. Working in partnership with the Client Relationship Manager and Private Shopping Manager to grow your client base and engage new leads as required

About You

Our Private Shopping is world renowned, so delivering exceptional service to our most loyal clients is something you will thrive in doing. In a role as dynamic as this, your high level of emotional intelligence and influence and persuasion will be used on a daily basis.

In addition to this we are looking for someone who has the following

  • Passionate about delivering the very best for our clients, and luxury service standards at all times.
  • A strong, proven and demonstrable client book.
  • Proven experience of building authentic relationships built on trust, both with the client and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and listening skills; interpreting the needs of clients and acting upon them
  • Ability to hold engaging and meaningful conversations with clients as well as being culturally aware and having worldly knowledge
  • Pre-emptive and pro-active: acting upon client insight and anticipating their wants and needs as well as growing the client relationship to drive it forward. This may be conversational insight or using data and reporting
  • Depth and breadth of luxury product knowledge, both within Harrods and beyond.
  • Strategic in their approach to their client portfolio
  • Team player and collaborative style – working in a highly matrixed organisation
