Private Wealth Associate (2-5 years PQE)
Maurice Turnor Gardner is looking for a Private Wealth Associate (2-5 years PQE) to join our London office.
A Private Wealth Associate will be an exceptional and highly energetic lawyer with a professional demeanour, who is commercially minded, collaborative and keen to develop their career in this specialist field.
Responsibilities:
- Matter file management in consultation with Partners and Senior lawyers
- Assist in planning solutions and strategies, both to mitigate risks and to drive matters forward
- Assist in planning and managing client-related projects in a cost effective way
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with new and existing clients and colleagues
- Ability to be involved in the presentation of complex legal matters in client-friendly and practical terms
- Pro-actively seek solutions to achieve client objectives
- Involvement in client marketing activities, with the aim of attracting new clients for MTG and new work from existing clients
- Meticulous research, analytical and presentation skills

Technical
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in areas of importance to clients and that support, and are complementary to, the technical expertise of others in the firm
MTG’s areas of practice in the Private Wealth team include the following:
Private Wealth core practice:
- Advising UHNW and HNW international client base on residence, long-term residence, the foreign income and gains regime, the remittance basis, pre-arrival tax and trust planning, creation and operation of family offices, UK residential property structuring, cross border planning and conflicts of law, taxation of UK resident settlors and beneficiaries of non-UK trusts; structuring and succession planning for personal and business assets, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications, trust law, trusts in commercial contexts and family governance
Complex contentious and non-contentious trusts and probate
Philanthropy and Charities:
- Advising creators and funders of charities on choice of charitable vehicle, fiscal efficiency of donations, cross-border giving, day to day operational and risk management and disputes

Immigration:
- Applications for entry clearance, further leave to remain including wider complex immigration strategy advice on family migration and importing family-owned businesses to the UK, advice on pre-arrival planning and indefinite leave to remain applications and naturalisation applications
Art and cultural property
Financial
- Record all time daily
- Actively support the management of regular billing of unbilled time and collection of receivables
Regulatory
- Understand and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, both personally and by all team members
- Uphold the highest levels of integrity and professionalism
Personal development
- Agree personal objectives annually and carry out a plan to deliver them
- Take personal responsibility to ensure that technical and commercial knowledge is up to date. Disseminate such knowledge both internally and to clients
- Develop key personal skills such as project management, public speaking and effective use of technology
