Private Wealth Tax Associate
Location: Central London - hybrid
Experience: 5PQE+
Overview
Join a leading, top-tier ranked Central London law firm with a market-leading Private Client and Tax practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate to Legal Director-level tax lawyer with strong personal and international tax experience to advise on complex, high-value matters for an outstanding domestic and international client base.
The team advises UHNW and HNW individuals, entrepreneurs, international families, family offices, trustees, and business owners on the full spectrum of UK personal tax, with a particular emphasis on cross-border and international matters.
Responsibilities
- Advising UHNW and HNW individuals, families, and trustees on income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax planning.
- Advising on UK tax residence, the Statutory Residence Test, split-year treatment, and treaty residence.
- Advising on the post-April 2025 regime, including the FIG regime, transitional reliefs, and residence-based inheritance tax.
- Delivering pre-arrival and pre-departure planning for clients relocating to or from the UK.
- Advising on the UK tax treatment of offshore trusts, settlor-interested structures, and international holding arrangements.
- Applying double taxation treaties and resolving cross-border tax issues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Assisting with HMRC enquiries, voluntary disclosures, and tax compliance matters where required.
- Working closely with overseas lawyers, accountants, trustees, private banks, and family offices.
- Managing client relationships and running complex matters from instruction to completion.
- Supervising, developing, and mentoring junior members of the team.

About You
- Qualified Solicitor with 5+ PQE in Personal Tax, Private Client, or Private Wealth, gained at a leading law firm or Big 4 / boutique tax practice.
- Strong technical expertise in UK personal taxation, particularly income tax, CGT, and IHT.
- Substantial experience advising on residence, the Statutory Residence Test, and double taxation treaties.
- A sound working knowledge of the post-April 2025 regime and its implications for internationally mobile clients.
- Experience advising on offshore trusts and international wealth structures.
- Confidence working on multi-jurisdictional matters alongside overseas advisers.
- Excellent drafting, communication, and client relationship skills.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers would be advantageous.
- CTA and/or STEP qualification desirable but not essential.
