Pellys Solicitors is a client-focused law firm with 4 offices across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex. We support individuals and businesses with a positive, solutions-oriented approach. Pellys Solicitors offers specialist advice across key areas of law encountered in everyday life, as well as niche expertise. Client needs are placed at the heart of all work, whether in personal matters or commercial affairs.

Role Description

We currently have 2 roles available within the Wills, Trusts and Probate Department:

  • Senior Trusts & Probate Lawyer within our Royston office
  • Junior Wills and Probate Lawyer within our Saffron Walden office

The role involves advising clients on all aspects of probate, estate administration, and the creation and management of trusts. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Drafting wills and trust documents
  • Preparing probate applications
  • Managing estate assets
  • Liaising with beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other professional advisers

The lawyer will handle client meetings, provide clear and practical legal guidance, and ensure matters are progressed efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements. The role also includes:

  • Maintaining accurate case files
  • Contributing to business development activities
  • Supporting colleagues across the private client team

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitors / Cilex candidates only
  • Strong knowledge and experience in probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration.
  • Qualified solicitor or legal executive with relevant practicing experience in private client or related fields.
  • Excellent client-facing skills, including clear communication, empathy, and the ability to explain complex legal issues in accessible language.
  • Sound drafting and document preparation skills for wills, trusts, letters of wishes, and related legal instruments.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple matters and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for interpreting legal documents, tax implications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build long-term professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Comfort with legal practice management systems, digital file management, and basic IT tools (e.g., word processing and spreadsheets).
  • Commitment to professional development, ethical practice, and compliance with SRA or relevant regulatory standards.
  • Experience in handling Court of Protection work or inheritance tax planning is beneficial but not essential.
