Probation Officer – Southwark
Location: Southwark, London
Pay Rate: £30.36 per hour – Limited / Umbrella inclusive of Holiday pay or £24.50 PAYE Exclusive of Holiday pay.
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Locum / Agency
Start: Immediate / ASAP
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Probation Officer to join a busy Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) in Southwark. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Probation Officer to take on a challenging and rewarding caseload, supporting individuals through their rehabilitation while managing risk and contributing to public protection.
We will consider Remote Applications for this post but Ideally office presence would be an advantage.
The team is looking for someone who is confident managing complex and high-risk cases and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the specific requirements of the role, responsibilities may include:
- Managing a complex and challenging caseload, including high-risk offenders.
- Supervising MAPPA cases and attending relevant panel meetings.
- Preparing and writing Parole Reports.
- Supporting the delivery of Offender Management in Custody (OMiC).
- Completing and maintaining accurate OASys assessments.
- Managing risk effectively and contributing to public protection.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
- Applying relevant legislation, policies and evidence-based practice.
- Implementing requirements arising from the new Sentencing Act.
- Maintaining accurate and timely case records on NDelius and OASys.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the role.

Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised Probation Qualification Framework (PQF) Graduate Diploma / Honours Degree in Community Justice, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Proven experience working as a Probation Officer.
- Experience managing complex and high-risk caseloads.
- Experience managing MAPPA cases.
- Experience preparing and writing Parole Reports.
- Strong working knowledge of probation systems, including NDelius and OASys.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, probation practice and evidence-based approaches.
- Excellent communication, organisational and case management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- The ability to prioritise and manage competing demands within a busy environment.
