Position: Process Chemist, Development Chemist
Sector: Renewable energy, sustainability
Location: South Yorkshire
Visa support: No, you MUST have the right to live and work in the UK
Level: Proven professional experience is essential. We cannot consider people who only have academic experience
Salary: According to experience but likely to be in the range of £30,000 to £50,000
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing process routes
- Evaluating the suitability of upgraded materials for high value applications
- Characterising materials using relevant techniques such as BET, XRD, SEM, etc.
- Optimising processes for generating high value products to ensure minimal energy / consumables usage for the optimal product.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop practical production methods for the developed materials.
- Assisting the engineering team in scale-up activities for production from grams to kilograms to tonnes.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organised laboratory workspace (e.g. risk assessment and COSHH).
- Designing separation methods to purify materials.

Qualifications, experience, and skills

- An advanced degree, masters or Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry
- Proven professional research experience
- Experience of energy-driven chemical reactions highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of characteristics of materials and routes to generate them
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate research findings.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
