Process Chemist
Alchem Partners is supporting an established chemical manufacturer in the search for a Process Chemist. You will help develop new products, scale up processes, and solve manufacturing problems, with the opportunity to see the results of your work on the plant.
Working with development and operations colleagues, you will connect laboratory studies with production trials and turn technical findings into practical improvements in safety, quality, yield, and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, carry out, and evaluate laboratory studies and production trials.
- Support new products and processes through scale-up into commercial manufacture.
- Investigate process issues, identify root causes, and recommend workable solutions.
- Improve existing processes, assessing the costs, benefits, and safety implications of proposed changes.
- Support risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and management of change activities.
- Share technical knowledge, update operating procedures, and help train plant colleagues when introducing changes.

The Candidate
- A degree in organic chemistry or a relevant chemical discipline.
- At least two years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process development, or industrial R&D.
- Strong process troubleshooting skills and an understanding of manufacturing operations.
- The ability to assess how process changes affect quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Clear communication, a collaborative approach, and confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Experience in specialty chemicals, statistical analysis, experimental design, project management, or process optimisation would be useful.
- A PhD or Chartered Chemist status is desirable, rather than essential.
