Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Process Control and Automation Team Leader to join its CCGT power station in North Lincolnshire.
The Process Control and Automation Team Leader role comes with a starting salary of up to £76,000 + benefits including bonus and medical insurance.

Responsibilities and duties of the Process Control and Automation Team Leader role
Reporting To The Maintenance Manager You Will
- Lead the site’s process control and automation systems, including DCS, PLC, SCADA and Safety Instrumented Systems, ensuring reliable and safe operation.
- Manage the maintenance, inspection, testing, fault-finding and lifecycle planning of control systems and associated instrumentation.
- Oversee alarm management, historian databases and vibration monitoring systems, ensuring system integrity, reliable data and effective fault diagnosis.
- Manage the operational technology (OT) network, including performance monitoring, configuration, backups, network security and cybersecurity compliance.
- Lead control-system improvements, including control-loop tuning, control logic development, testing and implementation to improve plant safety, reliability and efficiency.
- Provide technical support for system integration and connectivity, including auxiliary systems, fiscal metering, emissions monitoring and data analytics platforms.
- Lead OT cybersecurity activities, including patching, antivirus management, remote access controls, password management and backup and recovery arrangements.
- Support engineering projects throughout design, construction, commissioning and start-up, ensuring compliance with technical standards and site requirements.
- Manage maintenance and development budgets, specialist support contracts and work priorities, coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and external suppliers.
- Provide technical leadership during breakdowns, call-outs, reliability studies, root-cause investigations and HAZOPs, while maintaining site standards, procedures and technical documentation.

Professional Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong knowledge of process control and automation systems, including DCS, PLC and SCADA platforms, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex control-system faults.
- Experience within heavy industry, power generation or the wider energy sector, ideally involving large-scale industrial control systems.
- Experience managing control-system maintenance, technical improvements, software and hardware upgrades, and project commissioning.
- Strong IT and technical skills, with the ability to manage OT networks, cybersecurity requirements, system documentation, budgets and specialist contractors.
