Role Overview
As an Assistant Line Leader, you'll play a key role in supporting production performance, food safety and product quality across the production line. Reporting to the Line Leader, you'll take responsibility for line operations when required, helping ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications and the highest quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food manufacturing professional looking to build leadership experience and develop their career within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Duties
- Manage the production line in the absence of the Line Leader
- Document and maintain safety and quality checks in line with customer and legislative requirements
- Ensure the production area operates in line with food safety and quality standards
- Report non-conformances and support corrective actions
- Confirm the availability of ingredients, labels, packaging and materials before production begins
- Maintain accurate, clear and honest production records
- Carry out routine quality checks and support colleagues in achieving right-first-time standards
- Review and maintain management information and production data
- Oversee machinery hygiene checks and report defects promptly
- Support audit preparation and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure finished products meet food safety, legal and quality requirements
- Set up machinery correctly to support efficient production operations

Ideal Candidate
- Experienced within a fast-paced food production environment
- Detail-focused with a strong commitment to quality standards
- Qualified to Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent
- Knowledgeable in HACCP principles and food safety requirements
- Numerate and literate with the ability to complete records accurately
- Customer-focused and committed to meeting expectations
- Confident supporting colleagues and promoting best practices
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes and performance
Desirable experience:
- Three or more years' experience in food manufacturing
- Experience supporting production line performance and team development
