The aim of the Research and Development Team is to drive commercial growth by creating technical opportunities and building them into great tasting, healthy beverages, driving competitive advantage for Twinings. The R&D Process Technologist will support this by developing and validating new processes for implementing new ingredients and product formats into production.
Please Note: This role is fixed term for 12 months.

- Design, conduct, analyse and report R&D lab-scale trials on new materials through new processes.
- Lead lab-scale process tests to establish key process parameters for optimum efficiency and end product quality.
- Take responsibility for new lab pilot equipment implementation including maintenance planning and supporting on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Lead establishment of new methods for implementing new ingredient formats into production.
- Develop expertise on new lab-scale pilot equipment.
- Liaise closely with factory teams to support upscaling for production.
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of product development, ingredient functionality, blending, agglomeration and other process techniques.
- Help to build an external network of suppliers and partners who can help drive the performance of Twinings production processes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of 2 years experience working, within an R&D or process engineering environment.
- Education at least to degree level, in a relevant scientific discipline such as food technology or engineering.
- Demonstrable experience of working within raw material processing in a relevant industry such as food and beverages, healthcare, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals.
- Experience of developing new processes beyond a business’s core capabilities.
- Working knowledge of food or beverage production techniques preferred but experience from other categories such as pharmaceuticals considered.
- Working knowledge of IT systems such as MS Office.
- Good understanding good scientific practice, basic scientific techniques, and food safety.
- Basic understanding of project management and ability to plan own work to meet timelines.
