Job Purpose and Impact

You will have the unique opportunity to work at the heart of a rapidly growing Cargill BioIndustrial plant. We’ve been reliably selecting, modifying, and reacting to various nature-based chemistries to create specific, innovative solutions for our industrial customers. We draw on the whole Cargill portfolio of products and services to create solutions to help our customers increase performance and lower costs – all in a responsible, sustainable manner.

The Process Engineer will apply process and project engineering techniques to improve moderately complex manufacturing processes and products. In this role, you will provide technical support, operations experience, continuous improvement techniques, and project management skills and be a contributing member of a team on moderately complex issues related to the operational domain area. You will provide guidance and oversight of external third parties that are utilized at the site and improve the stability, capability, and availability of processes while reducing variability and mitigating risks in the operational area. You will enable the operational area to achieve variable and fixed cost and operating efficiency targets, while protecting our people, communities, the environment, and assets, and honor our business obligations.

This is a fully on-site position, Monday to Friday, during standard daytime hours.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collect and analyze moderately complex operational data and trends and develop recommendations and plans to improve the performance and reporting process of manufacturing equipment and processes and ensure consistent monitoring and early warning indicators.
  • Collaborate with maintenance leadership to plan and schedule maintenance of plant systems using reliability models and predictive technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal technology and finance operations stakeholders to monitor and manage variable and fixed costs at the site.
  • Plan and monitor production shutdowns ensuring legal and preventive maintenance compliance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Partner with process engineers to analyze capital expenditures and moderately complex project designs to find more efficient, cost-effective approaches to promote higher quality and reliable outcomes.
  • Serve as point of contact and interface with third-party personnel to set priorities, monitor safety, and improve their skills over time.
  • Partner with relevant personnel from other departments within the site or across the business to benchmark practices and assist in the creation of strategies.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of performing process calculations, equipment sizing, and development of P&IDs.
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment in a Process/Project Engineering position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Green Belt, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience working on small to medium capital projects including scoping, designing unit operations, cost control, and process risk assessments.
  • Use of PI (data historian), ACAD (Auto CAD), MS Project programs.
