Job Introduction

Are you an experienced and dynamic Process Engineer looking for your next position?

We are currently looking for a Process Engineer at our Tunstead plant in Buxton. As the successful Process Engineer, you will be responsible for focusing on plant performance to enable the plant to achieve its health, safety, environment, quality and performance objectives.

You will maintain high safety standards, effectively coaching and challenging others to work safely whilst monitoring key process parameters, identifying actions to solve deviations from targets. You will conduct day to day and longer-term measurements and investigations to improve performance and optimise plant operations, alongside implementing systems, tools and procedures to optimise the production process. You will support and where appropriate lead, multidisciplinary teams, projects, Plant Improvement Plans (PIP) and other initiatives to meet business targets.

Main Responsibilities

As the successful Process Engineer you will be responsible for tracking key process parameters used to optimise performance as well as processing data, regularly monitoring the parameters relating to plant operation.

On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Process Engineer will include (not exhaustive):

  • Conducting process studies/audits and generating reports as required to identify improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Making recommendations for modifications on various control parameters and processes
  • Ensuring process checks are scheduled and completed as per departmental objectives
  • Identifying power reduction projects and continually improving and optimising the plant to reduce power
  • Optimising fuel consumption and prioritising the increased use of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials
  • Be the site “expert” in process related issues
  • Liaising with the Central Industrial Performance team regarding process issues
  • Maintaining and improving Health Safety and Environmental standards
  • Providing process engineering input to capital projects

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal Process Engineer will have experience within a similar role, with a Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent.

You will also possess the following:

  • IChemE associate (working towards or willing to attain chartered engineering status)
  • Experience in Safety and Environmental laws and regulations with high safety standards and a wide knowledge of Health and Safety management techniques
  • Proven experience in process engineering (preferably the cement industry) or other relevant industry
  • General knowledge in physics, chemistry, thermodynamics and IT.
  • Good knowledge of process control methods and statistical methods for troubleshooting.

The role is based at our Tunstead Cement Plant in Buxton, Derbyshire. The site is easily accessible from Macclesfield, Sheffield, Matlock, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Huddersfield, Oldham, Stockport, Warrington and the surrounding areas.
