We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer for an ongoing 12 month contract within the water sector. Fully remote with occasional site visits. Day rate to be discussed.
Essential (non-negotiable):
- 5+ years’ UK water sector experience
Key responsibilities:
- Design and review of process elements across wastewater and water infrastructure and treatment projects
- Site surveys and liaison with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Hydraulic assessments and calculations
- Existing process capacity assessments and basis of design development
- Process equipment design
- Preparation of PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)
- Mass and energy balances, headloss calculations and pumping system analysis
- Preparation of Hazardous Area Classification and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
- Participation in safety reviews, including HAZOP and HAZID assessments
- Technical specifications and reports

Collaboration:
- Work closely with other discipline teams locally and nationwide to deliver high quality technical solutions
- Communicate effectively with clients and collaborators throughout the design and planning phases
- Delegate, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to junior staff
- Produce and review client deliverables, including calculations, drawings and technical reports to relevant standards and procedures
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience designing water and wastewater engineering deliverables with multidisciplinary knowledge, ideally including treatment schemes
- BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with experience in water and wastewater treatment
- Proven experience at senior engineer level within a water sector consultancy
- Experience managing projects, delegating tasks and technical mentoring
