Role Description
The Process Engineer will support the design, optimization, and evaluation of wastewater treatment processes, with a focus on photocatalytic systems and related unit operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Developing and refining process flow diagrams
- Performing calculations and simulations
- Analyzing experimental and operational data
- Contributing to scale-up strategies from lab to pilot

The role involves close collaboration with laboratory teams, documenting findings, preparing technical reports, and recommending improvements for process efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This is a part-time role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement that combines on-site presence at laboratories and facilities with some work from home. The Process Engineer will also assist in ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental performance while supporting continuous innovation in wastewater treatment technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong Process Engineering skills, including experience with wastewater or chemical process systems.
- Background in Chemical Engineering and related disciplines, with understanding of reaction engineering and separation processes.
- Capabilities in Process Design and Process Control, including process modeling, PFD/P&ID development, and control strategy support.
- Solid Analytical Skills, including data analysis, interpretation of laboratory results, and performance evaluation of treatment processes.
- Relevant experience in industrial wastewater treatment, photocatalysis, or environmental engineering is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work safely in laboratory and pilot environments, following health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
