THE COMPANY

Established in 1998, JSM Group designs and installs the power networks, digital infrastructure and specialist systems that critical industries run on, from high-power grid connections and data centres to renewable energy. Our turnkey teams deliver complex infrastructure at speed, on time, and with reduced legislative, technical and commercial risk.

SCOPE OF ROLE

JSM is looking for an experienced Process Improvement & Lean Specialist to join the Lean programme on a permanent basis. Our key business processes are already mapped in IBM Blueworks, and we have developed a Project Execution Lifecycle that the majority of this role will focus on. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in operational environments, works well with stakeholders at all levels, and can bring structure, clarity and scalability to how work gets done across a contracts-led organisation experiencing a period of significant growth.

  • Apply Lean to nurture efficiency and effectiveness
  • Combine traditional improvement approaches with the work in AI usage
  • Support strategies to engender a culture of business improvement

General Duties

Process improvement and Lean

  • Focus on the Project Execution Lifecycle, where the majority of the work sits, improving processes from initial trigger through to delivery and closeout
  • Define and test stage gateways across the Project Execution Lifecycle, from project mobilisation onwards, with clear roles and responsibilities, project artefacts and acceptance criteria at each gate
  • Build on and maintain the other key business processes already mapped in IBM Blueworks (e.g. Hire to Retire, Procure to Pay) keeping them current as the business changes
  • Apply Lean principles and tools to identify waste, improve flow and drive measurable improvements, such as reduced cycle times and fewer handoffs (for example the work with Finance to shorten the monthly reporting cycle)
  • Develop a process improvement toolkit to allow other ‘Lean champions’ to execute their own improvement programmes consistently
  • Develop clear, practical process artefacts in IBM Blueworks: Process maps, RACI matrices and control points
  • Challenge existing processes constructively and help teams move away from tribal knowledge
  • Track all business benefits associated with the execution of the Lean programme

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Change management

  • Bring change management discipline to every improvement, so new processes are adopted and sustained, not just designed
  • Plan and deliver the stakeholder engagement, communications and training that sit around each process change
  • Partner closely with the Change Management function to embed a consistent, repeatable way of working across departments

AI and use cases

  • Spot where AI can remove steps, speed up flow or improve quality within a process
  • Work with the AI Solutions Engineer and the AI use case pipeline to turn process pinch points into practical AI use cases
  • Cross-reference the AI use case catalogue with the Project Execution Lifecycle, so AI is applied where it best supports the work
  • Make sure redesigned processes account for the AI tools already in use (for example Claude) and the controls around them

Delivery and documentation

  • Ensure processes support contractual, commercial and operational requirements
  • Support onboarding and knowledge transfer through high-quality documentation
