Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil
Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods. Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are recruiting for experienced Process Leads to join our Retail team. This is a full time, permanent position, working 3 days on/3 days off - 6.00am to 6.30pm, with an hourly rate of £15.42.
Job Purpose
Responsible for supporting the Team Leader to achieve optimum line output through effective efficiency performance.
Will have the specialist skills, knowledge and experience in operating specified equipment and processes within the line.
Key Role Accountabilities and Requirements
Safety
- Promote a line safety culture of compliance to standards and proactive behaviours that identify and address potential hazards to eliminate any risk of accident.
- Rigorously follow safety procedures when setting up, operating and adjusting line equipment.
- Support accident or near miss investigations and corrective actions to eliminate any risk of repeat. Share learnings between lines.
Quality
- Support Team Leaders to ensure that minimum customer quality standards are understood and followed at each point of the process using right first-time methodology. Identify opportunities to improve quality at no additional cost. Ensure that optimal GMP standards are maintained throughout production process.
- Support Internal and External audits as required, managing, and implementing any corrective and preventative actions.

- Support the Team Leader in aligning the line team to the production targets and the actions needed to achieve them.
- Ensure that Operators understand the impact that their actions have on the performance of line equipment.
- Ensure that Operators do not compromise safety and quality in the pursuit of operational performance.
Delivery
- Support Team Leaders in the reduction or elimination of inefficiency on your line. Prioritise actions in line with analysis of the biggest causes of downtime.
- Support the coordination of Operators to ensure efficient product changeovers.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Cost
- Understand the costs related to line and department performance, including yield, giveaway, waste and the link between them. Support RCA actions that drive a reduction in these costs.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Significant knowledge and experience of food manufacturing, processing, and operations are essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines.
