Process Lead - Toolroom
At Mettis Aerospace, we manufacture world-class forged and machined components for some of the world's leading aerospace customers. We are seeking an experienced Process Lead to take responsibility for our Toolroom operation, leading a highly skilled team while ensuring quality, safety, delivery and continuous improvement objectives are achieved.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional with toolmaking, CNC machining or toolroom experience who is ready to step into a leadership role, or an established supervisor looking for their next challenge.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading and developing a team of Toolmakers, CNC Machinists and Welders
- Planning and coordinating daily workloads to meet business priorities
- Ensuring tooling manufacture, repair and modification activities are completed efficiently and to the highest standards
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the department
- Monitoring departmental performance, productivity and quality metrics
- Promoting a strong health & safety culture and ensuring safe systems of work are maintained
- Providing technical support and problem-solving expertise for tooling-related challenges
- Collaborating with Production, Engineering, Quality and Maintenance teams to support operational success
- Coaching and developing team members to maximise capability and performance

What we're looking for:
- Time-served Toolmaker, CNC Machinist or similar engineering apprenticeship
- Previous supervisory, team leader or management experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of CNC machining and toolroom practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Experience within aerospace, automotive, forging or heavy manufacturing
- Knowledge of Hurco and/or Mazak machining centres
- IOSH or other Health & Safety qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
