Your Role:
As a Process Safety Manager, you will provide technical leadership, consultation and direction on Process Safety Management (PSM) across the Speke site.
You will support both new product introduction projects and ongoing manufacturing operations, ensuring that process safety systems remain compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Acting as a key technical expert for the site, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, senior leadership and external regulatory authorities to strengthen process safety capability and continuously improve PSM performance.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and support site compliance with COMAH Regulations and Process Safety Management requirements.
- Support compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including DSEAR, ATEX and Pressure Safety Regulations.
- Act as a key point of contact with external competent authorities, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), supporting regulatory communication, incident notification and management of relevant site changes.
- Coordinate implementation and continuous improvement of the site's PSM system and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Develop the site's Process Safety business plan and improvement roadmap and provide leadership for its implementation.
- Lead and chair Process Safety activities including Process Hazard Reviews (PHRs), facility siting assessments, incident investigations and project/change assessments.
- Review and approve key Process Safety documentation, including the COMAH Safety Report, PHRs, risk assessments, change controls and HSE event investigations.
- Identify and escalate Process Safety compliance gaps and develop practical solutions to address them.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship on significant Process Safety investigations, changes and improvement initiatives.
- Develop Process Safety capability across the organisation through education, coaching, consultation and technical direction.
- Influence internal stakeholders and collaborate with external agencies while identifying and sharing external best practices.
- Support site self-assessments, management reviews, regulatory inspections and customer audits.
- Conduct Process Safety audits at other manufacturing sites and bring relevant best practices back to Speke.
- Support the site's Emergency Response Team and Management Control Group.
- Participate in the HSE Leadership Team for Process Safety-related topics.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in Process Safety Management within a manufacturing or process environment.
- Good understanding of Process Safety regulatory requirements and risk-management methodologies.
- Experience conducting or leading Process Hazard Reviews, risk assessments and/or Process Safety investigations.
- Ability to provide technical direction and influence stakeholders across different functions and levels of an organisation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- IChemE Professional Process Safety Engineer registration/accreditation.
- Strong working knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX and pressure systems regulations.
- Experience working directly with the HSE or other competent regulatory authorities.
- Experience leading PHRs and supporting COMAH Safety Reports.
- Experience within pharmaceutical, chemical or another highly regulated process-manufacturing environment.
- Experience auditing Process Safety Management systems across manufacturing facilities.
- Experience developing and implementing Process Safety improvement strategies or roadmaps.
