We are looking for a skilled Process Technician to join our aerospace and defence manufacturing team in Dundee. Working on advanced RF and microwave products used in mission-critical applications, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing processes, developing operator capability and ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability and technical excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine practical technical expertise with process improvement, operator training and New Product Introduction activities within a highly regulated, high-reliability manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Head of Test, you will provide technical support across manufacturing, tuning, screening and test operations while working closely with Engineering, Quality and Production teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing RF testing, tuning and screening of complex microwave and passive component assemblies.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical manufacturing issues, including yield deterioration, tuning failures, assembly defects and process inefficiencies.
- Delivering hands-on operator training and technical coaching in RF tuning, VNA screening, environmental screening and manufacturing best practices.
- Assessing operator competency and maintaining training and certification records.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, process capability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Troubleshooting production and test-related issues using structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Verifying calibration and functionality of manufacturing tools, fixtures and RF test equipment.
- Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including prototype builds, process trials and manufacturability assessments.
- Ensuring compliance with manufacturing procedures, quality standards and EHS requirements.
- Supporting AS9100 audits, customer visits and technical reviews.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer and business objectives.

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment such as aerospace, defence, electronics or RF/microwave manufacturing.
- Practical experience in RF testing, tuning, screening, assembly or manufacturing engineering support activities.
- Strong understanding of RF and microwave products, waveguide structures, coaxial connectors and passive RF components.
- Experience using RF test equipment such as:
- Vector Network Analysers (VNAs)
- Spectrum Analysers
- Signal Generators
- RF Amplifiers
- Power Meters
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints.
- Experience analysing RF performance data including Smith Charts, Polar Charts and Log Magnitude plots.
- Understanding of manufacturing process controls, continuous improvement methodologies and root cause problem solving.
- Experience training and mentoring operators or technicians.
Qualifications
- HNC, HND, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Desirable
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting NPI programmes and process validation activities.
- Familiarity with manufacturing data systems and Microsoft Excel.
