Laboratory Technician

This is a hands-on laboratory-based role where accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential. You'll be responsible for testing production samples, maintaining laboratory records, preparing testing chemicals, and ensuring testing equipment remains calibrated and compliant with ISO and company standards. You'll also investigate product issues, support customer complaint analysis, and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing performance.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you'll have the opportunity to support training of manufacturing colleagues, provide technical guidance when required, and deputise for the QC Team Leader or Technical & QC Manager during periods of absence. Safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement are central to everything we do, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical career within manufacturing.

Some of Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-process and final product testing accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, testing records, and ISO documentation.
  • Support investigations into product quality issues, customer complaints, and returned goods.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements that increase product quality and reduce manufacturing downtime.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing teams and assist the wider Quality team as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
