About the Role
We are looking for a Process Operator to join our Operations team at Boulby.
This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of crushing and screening equipment and associated heavy mobile plant, ensuring production targets, product quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. Working as part of a close-knit operational team, you will play an important role in maintaining plant performance while supporting our commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate crushing and screening plant in line with operating procedures and production schedules.
- Monitor plant performance, throughput, and product quality to achieve production targets.
- Start up, shut down, and adjust plant settings as required to optimise performance.
- Identify and report plant faults, breakdowns, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Carry out routine inspections and operational checks on plant equipment.
- Safely operate heavy mobile equipment, including:
- Loading Shovels
- Excavators
- Telehandlers
- Feed crushers and screening equipment efficiently and safely.
- Manage stockpiles and material movements throughout the plant.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and basic maintenance checks on mobile plant.
- Assist with planned maintenance activities and shutdown work.
- Carry out minor maintenance and routine servicing tasks where authorised.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across plant and work areas.
- Ensure access routes and operational areas remain safe and hazard-free.
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety initiatives.
- Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Support environmental controls including dust suppression, spill prevention, and waste management activities.

What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Experience operating crushing and screening plant or similar industrial processing equipment.
- Experience operating heavy mobile plant within quarrying, mining, aggregates, processing, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Valid mobile plant competency certificates or licences relevant to the role.
- Good understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment faults.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable
- NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in Plant Operations, Mineral Processing, Quarry Operations, or a related discipline.
- First Aid certification.
- Permit-to-Work experience.
- Confined Space Awareness training.
- Experience supporting preventative maintenance activities.
- Experience using computerised plant control systems (SCADA/HMI).
