Procurement and Contracts Manager - Macclesfield

As a Procurement and Contracts Manager based in Macclesfield, you'll manage procurement activities and contracts to ensure efficient operations within the not-for-profit sector. This role focuses on sourcing, supplier relationships, and contract management to support the organisation's goals.

Client Details

An organisation within the not-for-profit sector located in Macclesfield. They are a diverse multi-academy trust delivering excellent educational provision for pupils in primary and secondary schools across the North West. They are ambitious about the future, and passionate about ensuring young people have access to the very best opportunities and life chances. They believe they have the knowledge and skills to influence the education system to make this a reality for all pupils.

They have 14 schools across the North West and each school is strengthened by the additional support they provide as a larger multi-academy trust. This is because by working together, they have more resources to effect greater change for our pupils and the wider communities they serve. They are looking forward to embarking on this journey and working together to deliver on their promises to pupils, staff, and the wider region.

Description

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organisational objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee contract negotiations and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies and legal regulations.
  • Analyse spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts and procurement activities.

Profile

A successful Procurement and Contracts Manager should have:

  • Experience in procurement and contract management within a similar setting.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to analyse data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.

Job Offer

  • Salary between £53,054 to £60,864 dependent on the level of experience.
  • Comprehensive pension scheme.
  • Permanent position within the not-for-profit sector.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Relevant level 6/7 qualification or equivalent experience in procurement, finance, or business.
  • Professional qualification (or working towards), such as:
    • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) Desirable

Experience

  • Significant experience in procurement within a public sector or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of running compliant tenders under PCR 2023.
  • Experience in contract management and supplier performance management.
  • Experience in the education sector or multi-site organisation (desirable).

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Procurement Act 2023
    • ESFA Academies Financial Handbook
    • Framework agreements and dynamic purchasing systems
  • Knowledge of procurement best practice and governance.
