About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a Procurement and Supply Chain Specialist with the right skills, values and attention to detail that the role requires.

The role plays an integral part in supporting the Council’s procurement, contract and supply chain activity, helping to ensure that goods, works and services are procured effectively, compliantly and in line with strategic objectives.
The role will support the Council’s Housing and Repairs and Maintenance departments, contributing to procurement exercises, supplier engagement, contract documentation, performance monitoring and the ongoing improvement of procurement and supply chain arrangements across Council services.
The successful candidate will contribute throughout the procurement and contract management lifecycle. Working closely with contract managers, operational teams, suppliers and procurement colleagues, you will help prepare and develop tender and contract documentation, support procurement timetables, monitor supplier performance and assist with reporting, benchmarking and process improvement. You will help ensure procurement activity complies with Council policies, standing orders, financial regulations and relevant UK procurement legislation, while supporting the delivery of best value, service quality and effective supply chain management.
Key Skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and the ability to support procurement processes, manage documentation and identify practical solutions to procurement, supplier and contract-related risks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to support effective procurement and supply chain outcomes.
- Ability to prioritise competing work, meet procurement and reporting deadlines, and operate within a clear governance framework while supporting value for money, compliance and service improvement.

Working Arrangements
Although we offer hybrid-working, the successful candidate will need to ensure they can attend in-person meetings in Sheffield, usually at our Manor Lane depot, when required. The successful candidate may also be expected to be in the office 4-5 days a week initially, as part of the induction process and will be expected to spend 2/3 days per week in the office on an ongoing basis.

Starting Salary
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
