The Role
As a Procurement Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both the procurement and business support teams. You will ensure their site teams have the materials they need, when they need them, while maintaining accurate records and strong relationships with the supply chain.
Our client is a leading, well-established specialist sub-contractor operating within the fast-paced construction sector. Based in Hamilton, they pride themselves on delivering high-quality solutions to their clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Obtaining quotes from suppliers and supporting the end-to-end procurement process.
- Reviewing and proofreading supplier order acknowledgements to identify any discrepancies.
- Maintaining and updating delivery schedules.
- Collating and maintaining procurement, supplier, and project documentation.
- Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and internal departments to coordinate material requirements.
- Monitoring stock levels and supporting effective inventory control.
- Maintaining accurate filing systems, records, and document control processes.
- Assisting with reporting, data entry, and general office administration.
- Undertaking additional duties to support the wider business operations.

What We Are Looking For
You do not need to be a procurement expert yet, but you do need to be a sharp, proactive administrator who thrives in an organised environment.
To be successful, you should possess the following essential qualities:
- Excellent numeracy skills: You will be handling orders, data, and quotes regularly.
- Outstanding attention to detail: Essential for proofreading acknowledgements and managing stock documentation.
- Strong communication: A professional telephone manner and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organisational skills: The ability to prioritise your own workload, meet deadlines, and work independently using your own initiative.
- Team player attitude: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments.
- Problem-solving mindset: Effective problem-solving skills to help resolve delivery or supplier issues quickly.
