Procurement Assistant (Packaging) | Monday-Friday = 36.25 hours per week | £32,000 - £35,000
Job Description
The Procurement Assistant will support the overall procurement activities in the relevant category, including raising purchase orders, resolving invoice queries, data analysis and reporting, and gathering quotations. The Procurement Assistant will be purchasing materials or services as required to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply. Also to ensure that the most cost-effective and appropriate materials are purchased according to established policy and procedure to improve site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ordering and planning timely supply of various components and materials
- Purchase and expedite delivery of goods and services to maintain continuous and efficient plant operations
- Working day-to-day with existing supply base and to source new suppliers as required. Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with the supply base to ensure required standards are maintained
- Where relevant, ensure all Customs Clearance for importation of goods are completed in a timely manner and all paperwork in relation to Customs Clearance is available/traceable for auditable purposes
- Deal with day-to-day internal and external purchasing queries quickly and efficiently
- Obtain quotes from suppliers and ensure the optimum balance is achieved on price, quality and delivery times
- Process invoice queries
- Compile, store and retrieve purchasing records on SAP system
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders and suppliers
- Support overall procurement activities, driving efficiency and effectiveness in the procurement processes
- Support category manager with market / supplier intelligence
- Support category manager with analytical support for commercial decisions
- Collating and reporting category savings
- Tender documentation preparation and support evaluations
