Morgan Philips Executive Search is retained by a well-established, privately owned UK pharmaceutical wholesaler and distributor to appoint a Procurement & Commercial Operations Manager.

Our client supplies generics, parallel imports, OTC and branded lines into a fast-moving, margin-sensitive market, and is investing in the structure and data discipline of its procurement function.

This is a people leadership and operational excellence role, not a buying role.

Reporting to the Procurement Director, you will lead a team of buyers and category leads and run the function through process, governance and data rather than negotiating every deal yourself.

What you will own

  • Leading, coaching and developing the procurement team — clear KPIs, cadence and accountability.
  • Building the reporting infrastructure: dashboards, exception reports and a disciplined management rhythm.
  • Net cost price, rebate income and Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) as personal KPIs.
  • Joint ownership of revenue and trading margin budgets with Sales and Commercial.
  • Acting as a credible peer to the Heads of Operations, Finance, HR and Sales.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Minimum requirements

  • Line management of a team — proven track record of instilling structure, discipline and accountability, including managing performance and developing people.
  • Managing a team through data, process and governance — from procurement, commercial or supply chain operations, category management or commercial finance. A buying background is helpful but not essential.
  • Strong commercial and analytical ability — comfortable owning cost price, rebate and inventory (DIO) metrics as personal KPIs and building the reporting to track them.
  • Demonstrable partnership with sales or commercial teams, aligning stock and pricing decisions to revenue and margin budgets.
  • Credibility and autonomy at senior level — able to execute a strategy set by others without close supervision and engage directly with functional heads as a peer.
  • Significant, demonstrable experience excelling in the Pharmaceutical distribution industry; negotiating or managing supplier rebate agreements; knowledge of European pharmaceutical markets and parallel import models
