Location: Barrow In Furness/Preston

Salary: Circa £52,000 depending on experience

Job Description:
You will play a key role in leading procurement and contracting activities across construction and infrastructure projects forming part of a long-term, 10-year investment programme.
Working closely with internal stakeholders including engineering, SHE, quality and project teams, you will lead the development and implementation of procurement approaches across defined work packages, balancing cost, risk, programme requirements and buildability, while driving value through the supply chain.
You will lead procurement activities including tendering, commercial evaluation and supplier engagement, supporting successful delivery of construction packages and ensuring strong commercial outcomes.
Core duties:
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies for construction and infrastructure works, including civils, building and associated packages
- Lead end-to-end procurement of construction packages, including market engagement, tendering, bid evaluation, commercial negotiation and contract award
- Work alongside project and engineering teams to align procurement activities with programme milestones, cost plans and delivery priorities
- Lead supplier and contractor negotiations to achieve best value and robust commercial outcomes
- Support the selection of appropriate contract forms and commercial arrangements (e.g. NEC or similar)
- Ensure cost, risk and programme considerations are fully integrated into procurement decisions
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place
- Support ongoing supplier performance and ensure delivery against agreed cost, quality and programme expectations

Essential Skills:
- Experience in procurement, commercial or supply chain roles within construction, infrastructure or major projects
- Understanding of cost, commercial management and procurement processes in a project environment
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers across construction or infrastructure delivery
- Familiarity with standard forms of construction contract such as NEC, JCT or equivalent
- Ability to manage tender processes, evaluate bids and support contract negotiations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
