Procurement Manager
I’m supporting a well-established UK content and communications organisation that is creating its first dedicated procurement function. This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to help build procurement capability from the ground up. Working alongside a senior commercial leader, you will take ownership of day-to-day sourcing, supplier management, contract management and commercial savings across a varied indirect spend portfolio.
This is not a role for someone looking to inherit a fully established procurement environment. The successful candidate will need to be a hands-on self-starter who is comfortable creating structure, challenging existing practices and building procurement’s credibility across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading end-to-end RFQs, RFPs and supplier negotiations
- Managing sourcing activity independently within an agreed delegated authority
- Delivering measurable cost savings and cost avoidance
- Managing supplier onboarding, due diligence and ongoing performance
- Establishing and maintaining an approved supplier list and contract register
- Taking ownership of renewals, notice periods and commercial negotiations
- Improving spend visibility and reducing off-contract expenditure
- Supporting the implementation of procurement policies, controls and approval processes
- Working closely with Finance to strengthen purchase order compliance
- Coaching budget holders and positioning procurement as a commercial partner
- Supporting procurement activity across technology, SaaS, travel, facilities, professional services and operational services

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
