What’s expected of you?
DeterTech are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Manager to join our dynamic technical team. As a Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimising supply chain operations. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the timely acquisition of specialised equipment and materials while maintaining cost efficiency and quality standards. If you possess a strong background in procurement, exceptional analytical skills, and a passion for forensic technology, we invite you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing strategy specific to the values and needs of DeterTech
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, industry trends, and emerging technologies in forensic equipment, surveillance systems, and related materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define procurement requirements and develop sourcing plans aligned with the company's objectives and technological advancements
Supplier Discovery, Selection, and Evaluation
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on criteria such as quality, reliability, technical expertise, and adherence to industry standards and regulations
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and service level agreements
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plans to optimize supplier performance and mitigate risks

Cost Reduction
- Analyse spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost reduction through negotiation, volume discounts, strategic partnerships, and process optimisation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining the quality and reliability of products and services.
- Monitor and track cost reduction targets and metrics to demonstrate measurable results.
Logistics around the Setup of Supply Lines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient logistics and setup of supply lines
- Coordinate transportation, warehousing, and inventory management to ensure timely delivery and availability of critical equipment and materials
- Identify and address logistical challenges, such as customs regulations, security protocols, and international shipments, to ensure seamless procurement operations
Just-in-Time (JIT) to Long Lead Times
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies, including JIT principles, safety stock levels, and reorder points, to optimize supply chain efficiency and minimise stockouts
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to manage long lead times and ensure the timely availability of critical equipment and materials
- Monitor market trends, technological advancements, and industry forecasts to proactively address potential supply chain disruptions and mitigate risks
Setup of Procurement and Supply Chain on Sage X3 MRP
- Utilise your expertise in SAP MRP or similar systems to set up and configure procurement and supply chain modules tailored to the unique requirements of DeterTech
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems and troubleshoot technical issues
- Provide training and support to end-users to maximize system utilisation and efficiency

Staff Training
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the procurement and supply chain knowledge and skills of team members
- Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to forensic technology and surveillance equipment
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the procurement team
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong leadership abilities: Responsible for leading and managing a team of supply chain professionals, with strong leadership skills to motivate, support and develop team members.
- Effective communication skills: Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaboration and teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop and execute new product introductions, cost reduction initiatives, and other supply chain improvement projects
- Problem-solving skills: Should identify problems, analyse data, and develop solutions to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks
- Strategic thinking: Able to think strategically and develop long-term plans to optimize the supply chain, identify opportunities for growth, and respond to changes in the market
- Adaptability: Able to adapt to changing circumstances, such as changes in demand, supplier availability, or regulatory requirements
- Attention to detail: Detail-oriented and able to manage complex data sets and supplier contracts with accuracy and precision
