An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager to join the Power Infrastructure team at STRABAG UK, delivering critical infrastructure projects across the transmission and distribution sector. Working at the forefront of the energy transition, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of large-scale power networks that enable reliable, resilient, and low-carbon electricity systems.
Responsibilities

Reporting Structure:
- Report to the Senior Procurement Manager or, on smaller projects, to the Project Commercial lead.
- Functional reporting line to the Group Procurement and Supply Chain Director.

Compliance and Strategy:
- Ensure group processes are always followed.
- On major projects, aid the Senior Procurement Manager and Head of Procurement, supporting purchasing policy, strategy, and planning.
- On all other projects, assist in delivering the procurement project strategy.

Procurement Management:
- Manage and control the procurement of packages or project sectors/areas on the project.
- Prioritize and manage package purchasing.
- Lead and attend meetings related to the procurement function with internal and external parties, including the Client, Professional Team, and End User.
- Review Main Contract conditions and develop subcontract agreements, agreeing on these with the commercial lead.
- Manage the procurement of specific infrastructure packages, working with different stakeholders within the business to ensure best value procurement and contractual adherence.
- Conduct nominated subcontract procurement, including assessment of technical, commercial, contractual, and delivery requirements.
- Use the expertise of supporting functions to reach the correct decision.

Contract and Training Management:
- Have a good basic knowledge of relevant forms of subcontract (mostly NEC, the predominant form of contract, but others will be required).
- Review the capability of your reports and arrange training where required.
- Understand the Main Contract and ensure procurement in compliance with this.
- Manage your reports, including training, upskilling, developing, and supervising their work, including continual assessment and monitoring of their performance.

Supplier and Quality Management:
- Manage nominated suppliers, relationships, and trade agreements.
- Monitor and manage quality and QA systems adherence.
- Negotiate and administer purchasing contracts and monitor their progress.
- Build in future supplier accreditation requirements in line with Business Requirements.
- Administer and produce reports and statistics as directed.
- Negotiate payment terms and manage accounts on selected suppliers.
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.

- Market and Contract Development:
- Develop market knowledge and contacts for new products/services; identify potential suppliers.
- Keep contract files and use them as reference for the future.
- Work closely with the supply chain management team, including visiting sites and suppliers, ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
- Promote the use of internal companies as a first principle with regards to procurement.
- Assist the supply chain team in monitoring the supply chain performance, workload, and financial status to protect the corporate position.
Qualifications
Required:
- Substantial experience in a procurement role with at least 3 years, including a significant amount of the “key responsibilities and duties” listed above.
- Experience of running procurement packages on numerous major projects.
- Experience with the requirements of supply chain management on projects.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of integrated IT Systems.
- Literate and numerate with proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office applications.
- Experience within a construction/engineering or similar background.
Desirable
- CIPS Qualified.
- Experience in working in the transmission and distribution sector.
- Experience working on National Grid Contracts.
