Procurement Manager – CEMC

Location: Explore Industrial Park, Worksop, Nottinghamshire

Business: Laing O'Rourke – Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC)

Employment Type: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team at the Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC) in Nottinghamshire.

CEMC is Laing O'Rourke's state-of-the-art offsite manufacturing facility and plays a key role in our approach to modern methods of construction and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).

The facility combines digital engineering with advanced manufacturing techniques to produce high-quality structural components for some of the UK's most complex building and infrastructure projects. By manufacturing components in a controlled factory environment before they arrive on site, we can improve quality, productivity, safety and programme certainty while reducing waste and the amount of work traditionally carried out on construction sites.

As our Procurement Manager, you will play a key role in supporting this manufacturing operation, developing and delivering procurement strategies that ensure CEMC has a resilient, high-performing and commercially competitive supply chain.

You will work closely with our manufacturing, operational, engineering and commercial teams to ensure we have the right materials, suppliers and agreements in place to support both current production requirements and our future pipeline.

What will the role look like?

As Procurement Manager, you will take ownership of procurement activities across CEMC and work collaboratively with key stakeholders and our supply chain.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with CEMC's manufacturing and business requirements.
  • Managing procurement activities from initial market engagement and tendering through to negotiation, contract award and ongoing supplier management.
  • Working closely with manufacturing and operational teams to understand production plans, material requirements and future demand.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve value, reduce cost and strengthen supply chain resilience.
  • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners.
  • Leading commercial negotiations and ensuring appropriate contractual arrangements are in place.
  • Monitoring supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, sustainability and service.
  • Identifying and managing procurement and supply chain risks to protect manufacturing continuity.
  • Using market intelligence to identify new suppliers, technologies and opportunities for innovation.
  • Supporting strategic supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring procurement activities comply with Laing O'Rourke policies, governance requirements and agreed commercial processes.
  • Providing clear procurement reporting, insight and recommendations to the wider CEMC leadership team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
