Procurement Manager

Do you have a passion for procurement transformation and driving operational excellence? Are you looking for a role where you can lead procurement operations, influence group-wide processes and play a key role in implementing SAP Ariba? Do you want the opportunity to build strong stakeholder relationships, drive continuous improvement and help shape the future of procurement across a major UK organisation?

Your Role

Reporting to the Group Head of Procurement, the Procurement Manager will lead procurement operations and the Purchase-to-Pay function, ensuring efficient, compliant and value-focused procurement activity across Peel Ports Group. The role will be central to the delivery of procurement transformation, including the implementation and adoption of SAP Ariba Sourcing, while embedding best-practice sourcing, quotation, supplier management, inventory alignment and operational purchasing processes. Working closely with Finance, Accounts Payable, IT, Procurement, senior leadership and operational stakeholders, the role will strengthen governance, improve process consistency and drive continuous improvement across the procurement function.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement operations and Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) activities within a complex organisation.
  • Experience implementing, optimising or championing procurement technology, ideally SAP Ariba.
  • A proven people leader with a passion for developing high-performing teams and creating a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility, influence decision-making and foster effective relationships at all levels.
  • A track record of delivering procurement transformation, process improvements and change initiatives that drive measurable business value.
  • A solid understanding of procurement governance, compliance and controls, with a commitment to best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, with the ability to use data, spend insights and KPIs to support decision-making.
  • Experience supporting strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and commercial negotiations to achieve the best outcomes.
  • MCIPS qualified, or actively working towards achieving your qualification.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
