Capital Procurement Manager
The Oval Partnership are recruiting for a blue chip FMCG food manufacturing group seeking an experienced Capital Procurement Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This role is required at their central offices in Yorkshire once a week, 2 days spent with suppliers and on UK manufacturing sites and 2 days WFH.
As part of a small team, the Capital Procurement Manager will lead commercial activity, supplier negotiations, and contract management for multiple Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects across a national manufacturing footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- CapEx Category Management: Own and drive commercial strategy for end-to-end capital spend across plant machinery, process engineering, site upgrades, and civil works.
- Contract Negotiations: Draft, negotiate, and adapt complex supplier agreements—incorporating JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) frameworks and robust SLAs to mitigate business risk.
- Cross-Site Stakeholder Management: Partner directly with Heads of Engineering, Project Directors, and Operations teams across multiple UK facilities to challenge existing spend and drive value.
- End-to-End Tendering: Lead full tender cycles (RFPs/RFIs), supplier selection, cost-reduction initiatives, and ongoing performance management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
